Role Summary:
We’re looking for a Head of Marketing to take full ownership of the marketing function — commercially and operationally — so the GM is no longer involved in day-to-day marketing decisions, supplier negotiations, or media conversations. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role: you set strategy, own the budget, negotiate directly with suppliers and media partners, and manage a team that already includes a content/production group, a small product & analytics team, and a digital marketing manager. You’re the credible, mature voice representing marketing both internally and externally — someone who can see a few moves ahead as the business adds new brands and new revenue lines, and who isn’t afraid to champion a bold, attention-grabbing promotional idea over a safe, conventional one.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own overall marketing strategy, planning, and budget accountability for the business
- Lead negotiations and manage relationships with media agencies, suppliers, and external partners — be the senior face of marketing externally
- Manage and mentor the marketing team, including the Creative & Production Manager, the Senior Brand Designer, the Digital Marketing Manager, and the Analytics & Promotions Manager — set expectations, give real feedback, and develop people
- Set strategic creative and brand direction, and give final sign-off on major campaigns, while delegating hands-on execution to the Creative & Production Manager
- Originate and champion bold, unconventional promotional ideas — stunts and activations that earn attention on their own — and make the commercial case for the ones worth the risk
- Oversee the Product & Analytics function’s promotions and in-app/e-commerce data work, ensuring it stays connected to commercial priorities
- Report directly to the GM on marketing performance, spend, and return on investment
- Represent marketing in cross-functional planning with inventory, operations, and commercial teams
- Bring a point of view on how the marketing function should evolve as the business adds new brands and considers supplier-funded promotional programs — without needing to build any of it on day one
What We Are Looking For:
- 8+ years in marketing, including at least 3+ years in a senior leadership role owning strategy, budget, and external commercial relationships
- Demonstrated, real experience negotiating with media agencies and/or suppliers — not just briefing them
- Genuine people-management experience, ideally including mentoring junior or early-career staff
- Confident, mature, and credible in a room with suppliers, media partners, or senior stakeholders
- Strategic thinker who is also comfortable getting into operational detail when needed
- Commercial imagination — able to think clearly about how a marketing function scales alongside a growing, multi-brand business, even where today’s role doesn’t require building that yet
- Real coaching ability, not just management experience — comfortable closing genuine skill/experience gaps with local talent, patiently and without shortcuts
- A genuinely bold, unconventional promotional instinct — drawn to attention-grabbing stunts and activations over safe, expected campaigns, and able to make the commercial case for why the risk is worth it
Nice To Have:
- Experience in retail, e-commerce, delivery, or FMCG
- Experience building or scaling a marketing department from a lean base
- Experience with supplier-funded or co-op marketing/trade promotions
- Experience operating in a Pacific Island or similar emerging/smaller market
What We Offer
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience
- Hands-on mentorship from internationally experienced chefs
- Real growth potential as the operation scales — strong performers move up
- A genuinely unique opportunity to be part of building something new in Fiji
